Frank Victor Wechter

NORWALK — Frank Victor Wechter, 93, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, in Norwalk Memorial Home.

He was born Nov. 10, 1926, in Norwalk, to Frank J. and Clara (Pifer) Wechter. He attended St. Paul school and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired after many years with the Nickel Plate Railroad as an engineer.

Frank was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Eagles, VFW Post 2743 and American Legion Post 41. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, gardening and his yard work.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Barbara (Hepp) of Norwalk; children, Thomas (Rita) Wechter of Norwalk, Nancy (Bob) Dilger of Norwalk, Jerry Wechter of Chicago and Sandy (Mike) Jones of Norwalk; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Art, Tony, Alfred, Joe, Florence, Delores, Edna, Martha and Bernice.

Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
