Area man in critical condition after Tuesday afternoon crash

FREMONT — An area man was seriously injured in a crash when his pick-up truck ran off the right side of the road this afternoon.

Victor D. Polter, 65, of Fremont, was driving a 1995 GMC pick-up truck on Everett Road in Sandusky Township. At about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, he struck a mailbox, followed by a parked car. 

Polter was found wearing a seatbelt, but unresponsive when first responders arrived on scene. Sandusky County EMS transported him to Fremont ProMedica Hospital, where he is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.

The Fremont Highway Patrol Post is currently investigating the crash.

Troopers and EMS were assisted on scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Sandusky Township Fire Department and Ash’s Automotive.
