Also in Div. II, St. Paul advanced two boys swimmers in three individual events, along with one relay. Willard moved on three boys in four individual events and two relay teams.
For Norwalk, junior Anna Little was the sectional champion on Saturday at Oak Harbor, winning the 100 freestyle in 55.9 seconds. Her time is seeded seventh out of 32 swimmers at the district this weekend.
Little also finished second in the 50 free (25.73), and will be seeded 15th out of 32 competitors in the event at the district.
Also for Norwalk, the 200 and 400 freestyle relays each placed fourth at the sectional to move on to this week.
The 200 free team of Carissa Link, Sela Berry, Elyse Coe and Little came in with a time of 1:49.56, which is the No. 20 seed out of 24 teams at the district.
Norwalk’s 400 team of Mara Berry, Katie Westcott, Coe and Little clocked in at 4:02.82, which will be seeded 16th of 24 teams.
On the boys side, Norwalk had one individual move on. Owen Rhodes placed eighth in the 50 free at the sectional, and his time of 24.21 is seeded 30th of 32 swimmers this weekend.
Schaffer leads St. Paul contingent
St. Paul’s Jarrett Schaffer helped the Flyer boys advance in three of their four events at the districts.
Schaffer was runners-up at the Oak Harbor sectional in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.86), and his No. 6 seed out of 33 swimmers is the highest of any area swimmer entering the weekend.
He’s also an individual qualifier in the 200 IM, after placing fourth at the sectional (2:13.20), which is the 12th-best time out of 32 swimmers entering the district event.
Owen Moffit also advanced by placing fifth at the sectional in the 50 free (24.11). He’s seeded 26th in the event for this weekend.
Schaffer and Moffit also advanced with the St. Paul 200 free relay, which also includes Gavin Moffit and Davis Hedrick. The quartet placed fifth at the Oak Harbor sectional, and will be seeded 16th of 24 teams this weekend.
Thompson, Bauer lead Willard
The Crimson Flashes are advancing Blake Thompson, Nicholas Bauer, Blake Smith and two relay teams to the district.
Willard swam in the Div. II Mansfield Malabar sectional championships on Saturday.
Bauer clocked in with a strong 1:05.03 in the 100 breaststroke, which gives him the seventh-fastest time of 33 swimmers in the district. Smith was seeded 21st in the same event after a time of 1:08.46.
In the 100 butterfly, Bauer went 1:00.16 at the sectional, which will be 21st of 32 swimmers this weekend.
Thompson is seeded 18th in the 100 backstroke (1:03.16) and 24th in the 200 free (1:59.13).
The 200 medley relay of Thompson, Smith, Bauer and Gavin Buurma had a time of 1:47.72 at the sectional, which seeds them 10th of 24 teams at the district.
The 400 free relay of Smith, Buurma, Bauer and Thompson (3:43.53) will also be seeded 19th of 24 teams this weekend.
