Norwalk splits with SMCC

SANDUSKY — The Norwalk boys and girls swim teams came away with a non-conference split against host St. Mary Central Catholic Wednesday night at Sandusky High School.

The girls team posted a 116-44 win over the Panthers, while the boys fell by a 74-53 margin.

First place individual event performances for the girls team included Sela Berry in the 200-meter freestyle (2:19.21) and 100 butterfly (1:16.19), and Anna Little in the 100 free (1:00.32) and 100 backstroke (1:12.59).

Elyse Coe won the 50 free (28.26), Mara Berry won the 200 IM (2:38.96) and Carissa Link took first in the 500 free (6:31.09).

The 200 medley relay team of Mara Berry, Link, Coe and Little also took first place (2:05.43), as did the 200 freestyle quartet of Katie Westcott, Link, Coe and Sela Berry (1:58.23).

Rounding out first place finishes for the girls was the 400 free relay of Mara and Sela Berry, Coe and Little in 4:18.01.

In boys action, Owen Rhodes won the 50 free (24.79), with Wyatt Dotson (27.18) taking second and Chaz Smith (27.89) taking third place.

The men’s 200 free relay of Dotson, Ben Traczek, Smith and Rhodes also took first place for the Truckers (1:51.17).

Both Norwalk teams are scheduled to travel to Oak Harbor on Saturday for the Sandusky Bay Conference championships.
