Betty J. (Witter) Griffith

NORWALK — Betty J. (Witter) Griffith, 91, of Norwalk, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019.

She was born Aug. 12, 1928, in Norwalk, to Darwin J. and Josephine (Thorley) Witter. She was a 1947 graduate of Norwalk High School and worked at the former Isaly’s Ice Cream, Philco’s and Thermostat.

Betty enjoyed her Tuesday night ladies bowling league and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and was also a fan of the Norwalk Truckers, Cleveland Browns and OSU Buckeyes. She was a past president and member of the Norwalk VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, David (Toni) Griffith of Norwalk; daughters, Nancy Zimmerman of Sandusky, Judy (Brad) Evans of Sandusky and Virginia Baker of Norwalk; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; siblings, James (Betty) Witter of Norwalk and Irma (Bruce) Meadows of Galena; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie C. Griffith in 2005; son, Daniel C. Griffith; and siblings, Marilyn Lang and Lois Statzer.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Lang officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
