Virginia Wargo

NEW LONDON — Virginia Wargo, 97, after a lifetime packed with love, has left us to treasure her memory.

Born to Ross and MaryHelen Caroniti on January 22, 1922, she died on March 14, 2019. A graduate of Penfield High School, Virginia married Julius Wargo November 18, 1950, and together raised 5 daughters.

She worked at General Elastomer most her life. Virginia was a great cook, and if you visited her on Sundays, you could expect a fresh baked pie. She loved a party, and around her kitchen table all friends were considered family.

She was a member of the Fitchville Grange. She attended the New London Alliance Church. She was saved and baptized into Christ May of 1980; Virginia had the gift of service and helped with many church functions. She enjoyed her Bible studies and Sunday School classes.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two daughters, Margaret Merrill and Bonnie Widman. ‘She is survived by 3 daughters, Betty Camp of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara (Steve) Bowerize of Northwood and Marcia (Kevin) Ledet of Greenwich, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Dorothy Rossman of Medina and Shirley Yarmock of South Amherst.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 at Eastman Funeral Home, New London and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service on Monday with officiant Pastor Toby Thomas. Burial will follow at Fitchville Cemetery. Her family suggests donations to Stein Hospice or to Grandma’s Place.
