JoAnn (Hayes) Cooperrider

HURON — JoAnn (Hayes) Cooperrider, 83, passed away January 18, 2019 at Admiral’s Pointe Nursing Home in Huron, Ohio. She was born on January 7, 1936 in Crandall, Georgia to the late Harold and Kathryn (McEntire) Hayes.

JoAnn was an Ohio University graduate. She taught elementary school in Lancaster, Newark, and Norwalk for over 30 years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Norwalk where she served on numerous committees and as a Deacon and Elder.

She lived a good and adventuresome life traveling. At age 48, she learned how to scuba dive with her son Mike. Jo and Paul traveled the world for her to dive and photograph the world under the seas. She then shared her 600 dives with her students and organizations throughout Ohio.

JoAnn is survived by her son, Mark (Lynn) Cooperrider; daughter in-law, Christina; grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole and Katie and sister, Cathi White.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. and son, Paul Michael.

Family will be receiving friends at First Presbyterian Church, Norwalk, on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the 11 am memorial service. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
