A GoFundMe account has been established for the medical bills of JanMarie (McDowell) Miller and her four children after a crash left them with serious injuries.

Miller is the daughter of Bob and Rosemary McDowell, of Sandusky. She and her children were in a multiple-vehicle accident July 24.

“Fortunately, everyone survived, but they incurred severe, life-threatening injuries. The funds raised will be used to assist with extensive medical bills and supportive ongoing care for the children. Your donations and thoughts and prayers, are sincerely appreciated and needed,” family friend Patti Scheckelhoff said.

Miller and one daughter, Penelope, were released from an emergency room with minor injuries. According to the “Miller children recovery fund” GoFundMe page, the three other children were admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit.

“Hailey has since been released following facial surgery, but has a long recovery. Abby had surgery to repair a broken hip and has a severe concussion that will require significant follow-up care. Braxton has the most injuries, having a broken back and shattered pelvis. He is alert and responsive, but will be in a wheelchair for a very long time,” according to the post.

“The children have shown great strength and patience throughout this trauma. The road to recovery will be long and painful, especially (for) Braxton.”

The “Miller children recovery fund” on GoFundMe.com has a goal of raising $9,000.

Donations also can be made by emailing Becky McDowell at Forbes916@yahoo.com, calling 708-420-3636 or dropping them off at Bay Meats in Sandusky.
