The safety warning also prohibits pets from swimming in the reservoir.
“As our part of our exceptional and unconditional commitment to public health and safety, the reservoirs are monitored at the highest quality standards by the water department. During this monitoring we have identified that there is an unknown type of algae present,” interim Norwalk Public Works Director Wally Ritchie said.
“We are conducting further testing at this time to identify what type of algae it is. As a precautionary measure, we would like to ask citizens to avoid contact with the water and to not let their pets swim in the memorial reservoir until we have done comprehensive treating to eliminate the algae. This will be completed (Friday) morning.”
If you have further questions, call the public works department at 419-663-6735.
“Thank you for your patience. We will issue another statement as soon as possible,” Ritchie said.
