Norwalk tops St. Paul in crosstown boys golf match

NORWALK — The Norwalk boys golf team had no trouble in beating crosstown St. Paul on Tuesday at Eagle Creek golf course.

The Truckers won the non-league match over the Flyers by a 172-236 margin.

Kyle Smith was the low scorer and match medalist with a 41 for Norwalk. He was followed by both Zach Crane and Gavin Koelsch, who each fired a 43.

Also for the Truckers, Carter Kluding and Noah Scheel each shot 45s, while Isaac Scheel had a 48.

For the Flyers, Jackson Cook led the way with a 55. Also for St. Paul, Luke Meyer had a 58, followed by Logan Amato (61), Nathan Juby (62), David Swope (63) and Dylan Cook (72).


Bellevue 177, Norwalk 210

CLYDE — The host Lady Red had all four players shoot under a 50 in Tuesday’s Sandusky Bay Conference Lake division win at Sleepy Hollow golf course.

For Bellevue, Lara Spurlock was medalist with a 40. She was followed by Riley Hager with a 43, along with Tristian Rupp (46) and Cassie Biedrzycki (48). Also scoring for the Lady Red was Isabel Sanchez (53) and Keyara Schneider (53).

Visiting Norwalk got a 47 by Anna Little, while Hannah Dumbeck (53) and Noelle Jackson (55) and Carmen Krichbaum (55) rounded out the scoring.

Also for Norwalk, Chloe Thomas shot a 61, and Scarlett Krichbaum added a 72.

Norwalk entertains Tiffin Columbian at 1 p.m. today at Eagle Creek.

St. Paul 208, Crestview 257

NORWALK — The St. Paul girls golf team won its Firelands Conference opener on Monday at Eagle Creek.

Miller Hosack led the Flyers with a 48, followed by Tori Pocos (51), Brooke Bleile (54) and Sara Scavuzzo (55). Also scoring for St. Paul included Sammy Lippert and Catherine Juby, who each shot a 56.

On Tuesday, St. Paul finished second behind Oak Harbor (176) after shooting a 202 at the Oak Harbor Golf Club. Danbury (247) was also at the tri-match.

For St. Paul, Hosack shot a 47, followed by Lippert (50), Juby (52), Pocos (53), Grace Gillen (57) and Scavuzzo (61).


Norwalk 5, Amherst 0

AMHERST — Visting Norwalk improved to 3-0 with Tuesday’s non-league win over host Amherst.

At first singles, Norwalk’s Megan Berry won (6-4, 6-4) over Steele’s Alexis Hamrlik. Second singles saw Gabby Horowitz swept Garbielle Krugman (6-0, 6-0), while Jordan Gran also beat Kim Torres at third singles (6-0, 6-0).

Sela Berry and Mara Berry beat Jessica Pihlblad and Adeline Tellier (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1 doubles. At second doubles, Lauren Metcalf and Alexa Moore beat Nicole Sanoba and Melanie Medina (6-1, 6-1).

The Truckers host Edison today at the middle school courts.
