COLUMBUS — Two area football teams continued to rise in the third weekly Associated Press high school football state poll, released Monday night.

In Division V, Edison (4-1) is up two spots from 15th to No. 13 in this week’s poll. The Chargers (4-1) are coming off a 39-16 win vs. Willard, and will open up SBC Bay division play this week at Port Clinton.

Edison debuted at No. 16 in the initial Sept. 11 poll.

In Div. VII, St. Paul (5-0) is up two spots from sixth to No. 4. The Flyers had no trouble winning their 34th straight Firelands Conference game last week vs. Plymouth (42-0), but have a big game this Friday at Ashland Crestview (3-2).

St. Paul opened at No. 7 in the first of three polls, which will run through Oct. 23.

Also from the area, Clyde (5-0) is third and Sandusky (5-0) is fifth in the Div. III poll, while Shelby (5-0) is eighth in Div. IV.

Also from the area, unbeaten Oak Harbor (16-0) received two first-place votes and is ranked seventh in Div. II, while Huron (8-5) is No. 13 in Div. III.
