North Fairfield firefighters hold open house

NORTH FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, 7 N. Main St., North Fairfield, hosted an open house Sunday to thank the community and introduce them to the newest member of the fleet.

With money used from a levy, the department purchased a 2018 Pierce pumper. This truck is replacing an older, less efficient pumping truck from the 1990s. The new truck holds a thousand gallons of water and will be the mainline pumper for all calls. This newest fleet member also was made in the United States.

Chief Edward Eden and two firefighters went Florida to do the final inspection. Eden said the plant builders were excited to hand the truck off to them because they said it was one of the best they had ever made.

Eden and the fire department said they would like to thank the community and tax payers for their generosity via the levy which helped to purchase this new truck.
