Cok, Schaaf, Secor receive scholarships from Willard Rotary Club

WILLARD — The Willard Rotary Club has announced the three 2018 scholarship winners — Jay Cok, Steven Schaaf and Benjamin Secor — who received a total of $3,000 in awards.

Jay Cok, the son of Curt and Janet Cok, received the $1,500 Willard Rotary Scholarship in honor of Alice Williams for graduates.

He soon will finish his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at The University of Toledo. Jay Cok already has been accepted into the medical school program. He is a 2014 graduate of Willard High School.

Steven Schaaf, the son of Chris and Penny Schaaf, received the $500 two-year Institution or Certificate Program. He is learning the welding trade at Terra State Community College and is a 2015 graduate of Willard High School.

Benjamin Secor, the son of Dr. Bob and Julie Secor, received the $1,000 Willard Rotary Club Foundation Scholarship for graduates and/or upperclassmen.

He currently is finishing his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering/pre-med at Wright State University and will soon be applying to medical schools. Benjamin Secor is a 2015 graduate of Willard High School.

The Willard Rotary Club makes its annual scholarships available each spring through the WHS guidance department and the Willard Rotary Facebook page.

Applicants must be Willard graduates and also are required to submit a short essay and two letters of recommendation. Individuals are encouraged to contact any Willard Rotarian to learn more about these scholarships and the many other initiatives this local service organization supports.
