Red kettles raise money for The Salvation Army

By Norwalk Reflector Staff • Dec 5, 2018 at 7:00 PM

It is officially the Christmas season.

The Salvation Army red kettles are out in Norwalk to support their largest fundraising activity of the year. Sponsors supporting the kettle campaign include Don Tester Ford, Lake Erie Construction, Battles Insurance, Jim and Reta Stark, John and Carolyn Garcia, Seitz Design and Construction and Norwalk Concrete Industries.

Our Community Cares (OCC) is a new program this year to help increase donations during the holiday season. A large sign in front of The Salvation Army building tracks progress of the kettles and other fundraising programs. A donation of $500 or $1,000 places the donor on a special recognition role.

Holiday donations to The Salvation Army support more than 300 families in the Norwalk, Collins, Monroeville and Olena areas.

Local business providing a location for kettle placement include: Schild’s IGA, Miller’s Market, Walmart, Rural King, Big Lots and Drug Mart. Volunteers always are welcome to help The Salvation Army through standing by a kettle. If a kettle is not out at a designated location it is because there is a shortage of volunteers.

Call The Salvation Army at (419) 668-4090 for more information on Our Community Cares sponsorship or to volunteer your time at a kettle.
