Free or discounted fries Saturday for French Fry Day

Fast-food spots are celebrating National French Fry Day this Saturday with free or discounted fries.

Among chains with operations, McDonald’s, Penn Station East Coast Subs, Burger Fi and Sheetz are on the free-fry bandwagon (frywagon?).

Starting at 11 a.m., you'll get a free order of medium fries with your meal at McDonald's when you order on Uber Eats. (Make sure to add the fries to your order, and use the promo code, which you'll find in the app.)

At Penn Station East Coast, customers will receive a free small fry with any sandwich purchase. The fries are fresh cut, says Cincinnati-headquartered Penn Station, which recently opened a store in Perkins Township.

At BurgerFi (the closest one is in Cuyahoga Falls), customers can get a regular order of fries for $1 all day. The fries are hand cut, BurgerFi says.

Meanwhile, at Sheetz, the focus is on the Sheetz app. Customers will get a free bag of fries with a selection of 15 different dipping sauces when ordering through the Sheetz app.The French and Belgians both claim that fries were invented in their respective countries. The nearest Sheetz stores are located in Sheffield, North Ridgeville and Brunswick.

I'm English and we stay out of the dispute. We call fries chips, as in fish and chips.
