Norwalk handles Vermilion

NORWALK — Off the strength of a career day from senior Skylarr Story, the Norwalk girls basketball team inched closer to the .500 mark in the SBC Lake Division with Saturday’s 54-35 win over Vermilion at Norwalk High School.

Story finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds and three steals as the Truckers improved to 7-9 overall and 4-5 in the Lake. She was 9-of-10 shooting from the floor and 4-of-6 at the free-throw line.

Also for Norwalk, which led 15-4 after the first quarter, Olivia Ward added eight points, nine rebounds and five assists.

The Truckers have a non-league game at Holland Springfield (1-13) on Tuesday.

OAK HARBOR — The Crimson Flashes remained alone in second place in the SBC Bay Division with Saturday’s rout over the host Rockets.

Cassie Crawford led a balanced Willard (13-3, 6-1) attack with 14 points and six rebounds, with McKenna Stephens adding 10 points. Both Kalli Sowers and Presley Felter (seven rebounds) scored eight points for the Flashes, who visit Lexington Monday night.

Margaretta 75, Edison 36

MILAN — The Polar Bears looked every bit of the Division III No. 2-ranked team in the AP state poll on Saturday.

Margaretta (16-1, 7-0) opened up a 25-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back in Saturday’s SBC Bay win over the Chargers (10-8, 3-4).

Edison was led by Aliyah Caporini with 15 points.

OLIVESBURG — The first-place Cougars steadily outscored the Trojans over the course of the fourth quarter in Saturday’s Firelands Conference game at Crestview High School.

For the Trojans (7-9, 4-7), Ally Burton scored 11 points, with Ellery McKee and Claire Osborn each adding seven points.

LUCAS — The unbeaten and state-ranked Cubs (AP No. 3, Division IV) jumped on the Big Red in the first half to take a 30-16 lead in the eventual 23-point victory.

Walker Elliott led Plymouth (7-9) with 15 points, while Zeth Goth added 13.
