Three area standouts voted District 6 Players of the Year

Three area standouts earned Player of the Year honors in their respective divisions on the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association District 6 teams, it was announced this week.

In Division II, Norwalk's Brandon Haraway was voted the Player of the Year. Haraway averages 20.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.9 steals per game. He is first in the SBC Lake Division in scoring and steals, and third in rebounds, assists and blocks (0.6).

Also for Norwalk, Garrett Chapin (9.1 points, 6.6 rebounds) was honorable mention. Bellevue's Caleb Marshall (15.1 points, 9.4 rebounds) was second team, and Trey Ruhlman was honorable mention.

Longtime Norwalk coach Steve Gray was selected the Coach of the Year for the division. Norwalk (16-3, 7-1) had a 14-game win streak earlier this season and enters tonight's game at Sandusky playing for a potential share of the SBC Lake championship.


Division III

Willard's Parrott is POY

Another area team with a lengthy winning streak cleaned up in Div. III.

Willard's Cooper Parrott was selected as the Player of the Year, as he enters tonight's game at Edison averaging 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

Meanwhile Davon Triplett (11.4 points, 6.7 rebounds) and Myles Pinkston (9.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists) were second team, and Terry Baldridge (10.8 points, 6.4 rebounds) was honorable mention — giving the Flashes four starters voted on a team.

Western Reserve's Luke Rowlinson (13.8 points) was a first-teams election for the Roughriders, while teammate John Skrada (11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists) was on second team, and both Aiden Markley (9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds) and JJ Weisenberger (10.2 points, 3.0 assists, 2.3 steals) were honorable mention.

New London 1,000-point scorer Karson Howell (16.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 2.3 steals)

earned the first spot on the second team, while Ashton Carruthers (13.6 points, 8.2 rebounds) was honorable mention.

Willard's Joe Bedingfield was the Coach of the Year for the division. The Crimson Flashes entered tonight's game on a 10-game winning streak and are 16-3 overall (8-2 SBC Bay).


Division IV

South Central’s Blair voted POY

South Central standout Simon Blair was the Player of the Year for Div. IV.

The junior guard enters tonight's clash vs. Western Reserve averaging 21.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.2 steals per game, and also surpassed 1,000 points earlier this season.

Another FC standout was first team in Plymouth's Jacob Adams, who leads the conference in points (24.2), rebounds (10.8) and blocked shots (1.8 blocks).

Earning second team honors included St. Paul's Nick Winslow (13.0 points, 4.4 assists) and Jake Griffin (12.5 points 4.6 rebounds), along with South Central's David Lamoreaux (14.1 points, 6.1 rebounds).

Plymouth's Walker Elliott (4.6 assists, 3.8 steals) and Monroeville's Isaac Roeder (18.1 points, 8.4 rebounds) were both honorable mention.
