Derickson, who has been the department’s assistant director since April 2017, was named by Gov. John Kasich to replace Director David Daniels.
“As a farmer, businessperson, member of the Ohio House of Representative and as part of our administration, Tim has always demonstrated the integrity, loyalty and command of the issues that are the hallmark of a natural leader,” Kasich said in a statement. “I’m grateful for his willingness to step up, get us across the finish line and hand-off the department the right way to the next administration.”
Derickson served nearly eight years in the Ohio House — where he chaired numerous committees, including serving as vice chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. He resigned in August 2016 to become the director of the Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Board.
In April 2017, Derickson, a former dairy farmer in Hanover Twp., was appointed as the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s assistant director.
